HITSTER is a companion app for the physical card game Hitster. This game tests your musical knowledge, with songs from over 100 years. The app is an essential element to get the most out of the game.

How to play HITSTER

To get started, you need the physical HITSTER card game. Each card has a song with a QR code. By scanning this code with the free HITSTER app, the song will automatically play on Spotify. Your goal is to guess whether the song was released before or after other songs in your music timeline. As you build your timeline, the challenge gets harder as you have to try and place each new song in the correct order of release.

HITSTER game modes

HITSTER has several levels of difficulty. For example, in Original mode you have to place the cards in the correct order on your timeline. You can also try to guess the artist and song title in Pro mode. In Expert mode, you have to know the song name, artist name, and also the exact year of release. Finally, in Cooperative mode you join forces with your friends to create your musical timeline together.

Technical requirements for HITSTER

HITSTER requires a smartphone or tablet with an internet connection in order to play. In addition, you must have a Spotify account. Although you can play with either the free or premium version of Spotify, the premium version offers a better experience as there are no ads that interrupt your game. The free version also displays the name of the song, which will affect some of the HITSTER game modes. In that case, one player has to act as DJ and not participate in the game to prevent others from seeing the name of the song.
